Raquel A. Marquez ’88, a longtime prosecutor who lives in Valley Center, was appointed to the Superior Court bench in Riverside County by California Gov. Jerry Brown. Marquez was appointed to fill the seat of Judge Carol Codrington, who was elected last year to the state Court of Appeals for the Fourth District. Marquez, a 45-year-old Democrat, will become Riverside County’s first female Latino judge. Marquez has been a county deputy district attorney since 1991 and holds a law degree from UCLA.
