In the early ’90s, Phillip Keenan ’69 became certified as an electrician, including certification for solar installation. He bought a beautiful parcel of land in Santa Cruz near the Moore Creek preserve in 1974, on which he designed and built a cabin he called the “big house.” He was always working on projects around the house and property. Entirely self-taught, Phil put every ounce of his talent, his resources, his energy, and above all, his love, into his projects. He also worked in the electrical department at San Lorenzo Lumber, where he was appreciated equally by both his co-workers and management. Phil died in 2023 after living for nearly 21 years with Parkinsons. He is survived by his wife, Julie Reiner, his nephews, sister-in-law, and dear friends.
