Phillip Austin ’73 was a distinguished attorney and passionate advocate for civil rights, as well as a beloved friend, father, husband, and “Tata.” Over the years, Phil’s legal expertise and unwavering advocacy for the Latino community made him a key figure in Arizona’s civil rights history, from championing fair housing laws to his work as assistant attorney general. Among his loved ones, Phil was known for his extraordinary kindness and generosity and as the family historian. He died on Dec. 20, 2024.
