A proud third generation Californian, Peter Sheaff ’57 had healing hands and devoted his life to medicine. Before opening his own practice, Peter served as chief of pediatrics at Valley Forge General Army Hospital in Pennsylvania during the Vietnam War. At Children’s Hospital in Oakland, he held many positions including chief of medicine, medical staff president, and chairman of the Continuing Postgraduate Education Committee. Peter served as a consultant for California Children’s Services where he orchestrated the care of infants, children, and adolescents with neuromuscular disorders. Outside of medicine, Peter was an avid outdoorsman and known to play trombone on birthdays, at Christmas, and Fourth of July parades. Peter died July 8, 2023, and is survived by family including brother Joseph Sheaff ’60.
