1971

Perry Olsen ’71 died Aug. 8, 2022. He had a deep appreciation for music, backpacking, and sailing. He enjoyed running on the beach and spending time at a family cabin on the San Lorenzo River. Perry developed a love for the Grateful Dead in the 1960s and attended the live shows for the remainder of the band’s existence. His love of backpacking made it a staple for him to take his sons on a 9-day backpacking trip every summer in or around Yosemite. Later, he found a love for the open sea and bought a 46’ sailboat. Long cruises were his forte, and the wind carried him as far south as Central America, out to Hawaii, and north to Alaska. Perry is survived by his wife, Ellen Olsen ’73, their children, and extended family.
