Pelayo Llamas JD ’92 has been appointed to serve in an interim appointment as a judge in the Alameda County Superior Court. Since 2019, he has served  as a Commissioner at the Alameda County Superior Court.  This interim appointment allows Judge-Elect Llamas to begin immediately serving as a judge in the position he would fill in January 2023.  He is of Filipino and Japanese descent and is the first Filipino-American to serve as a judicial officer in Alameda County, and the first in Northern California ever to be elected to the position.  While obtaining his JD, he was an elected representative to the Student Bar Association for four semesters, was active in the Asian Pacific Law Students Association, and received a Law Faculty Scholarship.  Llamas attended the SCU Law Summer program in Tokyo and worked as a certified law clerk in the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
