1985

Paul Malone ’85 was kind hearted, friendly, unflappably cool, and a bit of a prankster. He went on to become a Navy lieutenant and distinguished himself by building a strong reputation in the fleet as “a good stick.” He was twice decorated for individual combat action, awarded the Navy Commendation, and individual action Air Medal, both times citing his bravery, judgment, and extraordinary coolness in combat. Paul left the Navy in 1995 to continue to pursue his career in commercial aviation and flew for the United Airlines. Paul loved the outdoors and was an avid mountaineer. His love of the outdoors was infectious, and he enjoyed sharing those experiences with a wide circle of friends and his family. Paul died on March 31, 2022, and is survived by father Richard Malone ’53 and extended family.
