1958

Paul Legallet ’58 knew leather. He grew up around the family business, Legallet Tanning and Wool Company, and started working there as a teen. While attending Santa Clara, he went to Reutlingen, Germany, to attend Westdeutsche Tanning School. And when the family business closed, he launched his own leather goods manufacturing business, Golden Gate Glove Company. His work would send him all over the world, sparking a love for different cultures and foods—especially French cheeses. Paul was dedicated to his loved ones and was known to host a good party. In fact, he died Aug. 9, 2023, after an evening celebrating his 65th wedding anniversary with his wife, Sharon, and friends.
