1973

Born on Jan. 27, 1948, in Bemidji, Minnesota, Patrick Daley (Cagey) Calhoun J.D. ’73 graduated from Loara High in Anaheim and UC Irvine before receiving his law degree from SCU. In high school Pat met his first wife Cathy, and they soon had their first child, Leslie. During college he was a proud husband and father. After law school, Pat hung his own shingle, Patrick Calhoun, Attorney-At-Law, and began his 45-plus year legal career in San Jose and Campbell, helping those in need. Soon after came lovely daughter Carrie. Patrick was an active fundraiser and participant with Rotary as well as a three-time president. His family bought a home in Willow Glen, and he began building his long-lasting friendships. Pat’s family and friends were very social, tailgating at SJSU and Stanford football games and SF and SJ Giant and 49er games. Trips included Tahoe, Mexico, Hawaii, family reunions, and five trips to 49er Super Bowls. Patrick married his second wife, Gayle, in 1989 and they were blessed with two boys, James and Nicholas. Pat built the new family dream home on Ridgeview Way and hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Rotary parties for over 20 years. Patrick also loved music and dancing with friends. When it came to his practice, Pat made the client the focus of his attention and enjoyed mentoring young law interns from his alma mater. He died at home at the age of 71 on Dec. 14, 2019, after fighting a valiant battle with liver disease with remarkable optimism. His loving family surrounded him until the end. Pat was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Jean and brother Roger. He is survived by children Leslie, Carrie, James and Nick, his siblings Mike and Marcia, and seven grandkids.
