Patricia “Patty” Rauch J.D. ’87 was a compassionate friend, dedicated teacher, and remarkable student advocate. She taught in the law school’s Legal Research and Writing Department for many years and shaped the lives of countless students and colleagues. Patty spent numerous summers supervising summer abroad programs for the Center for Global Law & Policy, most recently serving as co-director of the Oxford program with her husband, Law Professor Gary Neustadter. A beloved member of the Santa Clara community, she lived the mission of the University fully and generously. As a teacher, Patty loved learning, and her students loved learning from her. She put the interests of the University above her own and sacrificed for the success of the law school. Patty died on Feb. 19, 2018, after a brief illness. Gary, their daughters Rachel Mino and Stephanie Neustadter ’03, and extended family members survive her.
