1972

Patricia Hearne ’72 was a trailblazer and a remarkable mother to her seven children, infusing their lives with a multitude of interests, valuable life lessons, and, of course, love. Her children have countless fond memories of camping and exploring tide pools at the beach. Pat also loved animals, cultivating a particular passion for horses by riding in parades and rodeos during her formative years. She was among the first women to take agricultural classes at King City High School and Fresno State. At home, she raised Nubian goats, chickens, and horses, as well as dogs Waddles and Arena and cat Sylvester. Pat navigated various career paths, including stints as a lab technician, bank teller, and bookkeeper. She was a master at cooking, textile work, and gardening, and enjoyed teaching all these skills through Oregon State University Extension. Pat died March 16, 2024, and is survived by family, including daughter Maureen Beresini ’80.
