Nancy Pineda-drid Ph.D. ’05, assistant professor of theology and U.S. Latino/a ministry at Boston College, has recently published Suffering and Salvation in Ciudad Juárez (Fortress, 2011), which addresses the question: How are we to understand faith in a God who saves given the extreme violence against female humanity identified as feminicide? This book argues that while Christian salvation must be interpreted as both personal and social, in the here and now of feminicide, we learn that community is the condition for the possibility of salvation.
