1960

In 1963, after serving his country in the Army, Monte Pistoresi ’60 returned to his hometown of Chowchilla, Calif., where his father had started an ambulance service in 1942. Monte trained in the pioneering EMT-1 and EMT-2 programs and later on, he and partners secured the ambulance contract for Madera County, launching Pistoresi Ambulance Service—now a three-generation legacy. Today, the company operates 10 ambulances with 63 employees. Monte’s greatest joy was his family: his wife of 65 years, Leona; their four children, Theodore Pistoresi ’87, Michael Pistoresi ’84, Timothy Pistoresi ’83, Patti Pistoresi; seven grandchildren, including Selena Pistoresi ’14 and Samantha Pistoresi ’13; and six great-grandchildren. Monte died on April 23, 2025.
