1985

Miguel Lopez-Pereira MBA ’85 writes, "After earning my MBA in agribusiness at SCU in 1985, I went on to earn a Ph.D. in agricultural economics at Purdue University in 1990. I was encouraged to continue my studies by Dr. Charles French, former director of the agribusiness department at SCU at that time. Then I worked for about 12 years in different international organizations: The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Mexico, (1990-1994); the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington, D.C. (1994-1995); international consultant 1995-1998; the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, 1998-2002; international consultant again (2002-2010). With my wife, Norma, we created a small consulting and construction company in Honduras in 1998. We are now independent and have developed the company into a well established small real estate business, with activities in Tegucigalpa and La Ceiba, Honduras, our hometown. We are also beginning to expand our activities to the United States, with a new investment in Miami. My wife and I are very grateful for having had the opportunity to study at SCU, where we also lived two of our best years. Thank you, Santa Clara University!!!"
