Known affectionately as “Dr. Mike” to his many clients, Michael Zareski ’93, was a husband and father of four young children who touched the lives of hundreds of pet owners at his Torrance, California, practice and through his tireless rescue work. He owned Western Veterinary Group in Torrance and was a passionate supporter of local rescue groups. He founded the 4Ever Foundation for kittens and cats and went the extra mile in assisting many local animal rescue organizations, including Border Collies in Need and South Bay Cats. Mike was a special ally and lifeline for those who work in animal rescue and an exceptional diagnostician. He passed away on Dec. 9, 2017, when the single-ngine plane he was riding in crashed into a San Diego home. He was 46 years old. In addition to his wife, Shanna, Zareski is survived by their four children: Dani, 7, Hannah, 5, and 3-year-old twins Chris and Drew.
