Michael Thomas Stroot ’64 died on July 29, 2021, after a brief bout with cancer. Stroot worked in various jobs with the federal government before joining the faculty of The Heights School where he taught math and coached the school’s basketball team for a decade. In 1980, he accepted a job with the U.S. Census Bureau and lived for a time in Saudi Arabia. In retirement, he returned to teaching math. A true child of southern California, he enjoyed spending time at the beach, frequently waiting to catch the perfect body-surfing wave or reading at the water’s edge. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Jane, Mike is survived by his four children and nine grandchildren.
