Michael S. Bailey Sr. ’76 passed from this earth Jan. 22, 2011. Mike died of natural causes at his parents’ home in Watsonville, Calif. Mike was born April 26, 1954, in Watsonville. He graduated from Watsonville High School in 1972, and Santa Clara University, 1976, with a B.S. in Chemistry. He later earned an MBA from the University of San Diego. He was commissioned in the U.S. Navy, serving in the submarine force on active duty for 12 years, and as an active reservist for nine years. He rose to the rank of Commander before leaving the active reserve. Later, he entered the software business and became a certified business process engineer. Mike was a man of many talents. He earned the highest award in 4H, All Star. He was an excellent skier, serving in the national ski patrol at Squaw Valley, as well as being a pilot, sailor, and scuba diver. He loved gardening and was constantly fighting against gopher invasions. Mike served his community through the Scouting program, as a Unit Commissioner and Eagle Advisor. Many young men have given him credit for helping them attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He was generous with his time to help his neighbors. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Fallbrook, Calif.
