Michael Robert Dolan ’91 passed away on February 9, 2011. Mike was born on June 21, 1969 in New Jersey to Robert and Marianne Dolan. After spending a few years in Minnesota, the family moved to California and Mike grew up in Fullerton. He attended St. Juliana School and graduated from Troy High School as valedictorian. He attended Santa Clara University and graduated at the top of his class in 1991 with a B.S. in Decision and Information Sciences. He was instrumental in starting and developing Briefing.com. Work with this company brought him to Chicago. His success allowed him to semi-retire in his early 30s. He spent the last several years studying at the University of Chicago pursuing his passions: math, physics, and philosophy. Mike was brilliant. He was a long-time member of Mensa. He worked tirelessly when he was brainstorming a new business idea or taking post-graduate classes. Mike was also athletic and excelled in sports. He played tennis and baseball, ran track and cross country, played beach volleyball and enjoyed surfing. He was an avid and fearless skier. Mike will be remembered for his kind, amiable and easy-going demeanor, his quick and brilliant mind, his athleticism and his sense of humor. He was a beloved son and a hero as a brother. He was a fun-loving and generous uncle. Mike is survived by his parents, Robert and Marianne Dolan, and his siblings: Jennifer Dolan LaGrange ’92 (husband Clint), Kathy Dolan Brahm (husband Jim) and Matthew Vincent Dolan (wife Terri), and several nieces and nephews. Mike was well-loved by his family and friends and is missed dearly.
