Marko Susnjara ’51 knew there was power in laughter, and loved to tell a good joke. Born to Croatian immigrants in Portland, Ore., Marko attended Catholic high school and Santa Clara. Shortly after graduation, he attended Officer Candidate School and served in the U.S. Army as an “Atomic Veteran” at Camp Desert Rock in Nevada. Marko and his wife, Betty, raised five children in Portland, where he owned an operated a restaurant and motel. He was also an avid Trailblazers fan, and was a season ticket holder since their second year in existence. Marko died Nov. 9, 2023.
