Mark Silacci MBA ’91 says he’s lost count of how many times his business, Swenson & Silacci, has won the Readers’ Choice Award for best florist, which earned the distinction again this year. Founded in 1945, the business has retail stores in both Salinas and Monterey, California, as well as the online store OnlineFlowers.com. “Every year we’re honored,” he writes, “we never take it as a foregone conclusion. We like it. You’re present in people’s lives. You’re there for the birth, you’re there for the wedding. It’s very personal from a retail point of view.”
