1966
An advocate for women, Sister Marie Eloise Rosenblatt ’66 possessed a feminist consciousness and a strong sense of justice in her work as an educator and lawyer. Eloise entered the Sisters of Mercy in Burlingame, Calif., at the age of 23 following her graduation from Santa Clara University. After earning a master’s degree in literature from the University of Southern California, Eloise taught English and religion at the high school level. She then pursued a doctorate in Christian spirituality at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, and ministered in academia for 20 years, including at Santa Clara University. Tirelessly, she attended Lincoln Law School in San Jose and practiced family law as a civil attorney in private practice, serving mostly women. Eloise died on April 14, 2025, and is survived by her sister, Suzanne Rosenblatt ’68. She was preceded in death by brother Edwin Rosenblatt ’74.
