Marc Hanson ’98 and big brother Steven ’97 spent childhood creating their own contact sporting games, stretching the structural integrity of their family home to its limits, and negotiating space and resource allocation in the backseat on annual family road trips. This was where Marc first honed the skills that would later prove indispensable in his work as a public servant and advocate. He most recently was chief of staff for California State Senator Josh Newman and strongly supported the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative, a coalition of cities, police agencies, and community-based organizations to innovate new ways to prevent youth violence, guide the recently incarcerated back into society, and address homelessness. Marc died Aug. 25, 2021.
