Lucas Hill ’16 was among five graduating seniors to receive the Richard J. Riordan Award in recognition of outstanding community service. As a first-year student, Lucas was awarded a Jean Donovan Fellowship through the Ignatian Center to live for one month at Baan Dada’s Children’s Home for disadvantaged youth in western Thailand. As a sophomore, Lucas organized on campus events Rainbow Prom and Drag Show as a program coordinator in the Santa Clara Community Action Program. During his third and fourth years at SCU, he participated in the Health Care Ethics Internship and Honzel Fellowship through the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, which gave him the unique opportunity to spend five hours per week observing health care providers serve their patients at local health care facilities.
