Leslie C. Varr M.A. ’81, MBA ’88 had an inexhaustible supply of compassion that came through in both her personal and professional life. She received a master’s in education and MBA from SCU and spent her early career as a special education teacher. Leslie transitioned to the business sector and worked for 3Com, Apple, and Cisco Systems. She also volunteered her time as a member of the board of directors at Star One Credit Union. Leslie was a mentor to other women diagnosed with ovarian cancer and helped them through the difficult emotional process after diagnosis and empowered them by sharing the knowledge she had by having gone through the same process. Her passions included family vacations, spending time with her grandchildren, and healthy cooking from her enormous collection of cookbooks. Leslie passed away at her home in Campbell on Aug. 8, 2018, surrounded by her family after a long battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 61. She will be remembered for her strength, mentorship, and drive to always put her family needs before her own. Leslie is survived by her husband, Chris, her siblings, Paula, Claudia, and Anthony, her sons, Brandon and Jason, her daughters-in-law, Lindsey and Alexis, and her grandchildren, Lilian and Gavin.
