Leona Tockey M.A. ’81 was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on Nov. 27, 1925. Leona married her soldier, Willard Lee (Tag) Tockey, in 1946. They settled in Southern California and raised five children: Thomas Tockey, Bradley Tockey, Laurie Tockey, Leslie Tockey (Menefield) and Bryan Tockey. At 79, Leona retired and moved from Alameda County to Sonoma County, where she resided with Katie Tockey and Larry Childs of Cotati, and then to The Altamont, where she volunteered and made more close friends. Leona died peacefully on Aug. 20, 2015, at her daughter’s home after a brief fight with pancreatic cancer. She was 89. Leona is survived by her daughter, Leslie; son, Bryan; all her precious grandchildren, Racheal Stinson, Trevor Friend, Bryanne Tockey, Spencer Lockwood, Malachi Tockey, and Silas Tockey; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Alariah, E.J., Jeremiah, Ella, Bradley, and Levi. She was dearly loved by her sons and daughters-in-law, her many nieces and nephews, and the whole extended family. The memory of the special smile she brought to our lives will be treasured always.
