Lauren Simas ’11 serves with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest in Yakima, Wash. She works as a legal assistant at Northwest Justice Project. Simas helps lawyers in the office with their cases by gathering relevant documents and communicating to the clients about what is going on. Along withe building cases, she is engaged in client advocacy; currently she is helping elderly, low-income clients move from a dangerous living situation. Another important part of her job is migrant farm worker outreach. During the harvest season she travels all around the state of Washington visiting labor camps and handing out information to agricultural workers about their rights.
