Laura Bertone ’89 was recently interviewed by the newspaper Catholic San Francisco. With about 100 parish communities, the Archdiocese of San Francisco could well be the site of some 1,400 Masses and prayer and devotional services per week, and that’s a conservative estimate. Laura Bertone, director, Office of Worship for the archdiocese, helps all of it take place.
Laura spent 20 years around the world auditing for Bank of America but always felt called to liturgy. Her responsiblities include advising the archbishop on matters of liturgical policy; preparing and organizing all large archdiocesan liturgies such as chrism Mass, ordinations, and Rite of Election; and certifying and training lay liturgical ministers so that they are properly prepared. Laura said she is “amazed that I get to do this job. I work with and for great people and it’s an honor and joy to come into work each day.”
