Larry Paxton ’76 was recently elected as president of the American Geophysical Union’s Space Physics and Aeronomy Section. Larry is the head of the Geospace and Earth Science Group at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. In July, he met Dr. Frank Drake of the Drake Equation. Dr. Drake had presented a lecture on project Ozma to the physics majors in 1974. That lecture and Larry’s experience as an undergraduate researcher and participation in the Honors Program at Santa Clara shaped Larry’s later life and career.
