Lane Monske ’62 was born on June 20, 1940, in Grafton, Ohio. Soon after his birth, Lane moved to the San Fernando Valley in California, where he lived until graduation from high school in 1958. After graduating from SCU, he began studies at St. Louis University School of Dentistry under the U.S. Air Force delayed-activation program. He began active military service as a captain in 1967 and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a colonel in 1990. During his career, Lane served at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane, Washington, Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Losco County, Michigan, Elgin Air Force Base near Pensacola, Florida (where he completed studies in oral surgery), Zaragosa Air Force Base in Spain, Holoman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Nebraska. Lane passed away on May 1, 2018, in Alamogordo, his home for the past 28 years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanne Monske; son, Michael Monske and wife Kathleen of Boise, Idaho, and grandson Drake of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother Christopher Monske, sister-in-law, Jeannie Monske and nephew, Steven Monske of Vacaville, California; nephew, Brian Monske and wife Raynah and grandnieces Giana and Alina of Napa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon S. Monske and Dorothy Codner Monske.
