After graduating from Bellarmine College Prep, class of 1950, Kenneth Ravizza ’54 attended Santa Clara University on a football scholarship. That same year he married the love of his life, Norma Goncalves, and together they began their nearly 66-year marriage. After two years in the Army as a second lieutenant, he began a career with IBM spanning 36 years, retiring in 1993. His retirement was spent in his dream home in Morgan Hill, where he spent many hours in his woodshop building furniture and countless toys for his grandchildren. Ken was an avid fisherman and knew all the secret locations where the fish were always biting. He was a member of the order of the Holy Sepulcher and was active in his parish, St Catherine’s, in Morgan Hill. Ken passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Jan. 15, 2020. He was a third-generation Californian and the oldest son of Joseph and Josephine Ravizza, both longtime Santa Clara residents. Ken is survived by his wife, Norma; his sons, Ken Ravizza Jr. ’77 (Kristen), David Ravizza (Stephanie), Allen Ravizza (Anne Ravizza ’83), and his daughter Christine Shiffer (Jeff); 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sisters Margie Martin and Kathy Kowal (Jim); sister-in-law Melanie Ravizza; many nieces and nephews; and other beloved family members. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Ravizza, and brother-in-law William Martin.
