Karen Anne Gilmour Schouten ’75, Aug. 30, 1953 to Oct. 02, 2014. Karen was a beautiful mother and wife, deeply involved in the community and the causes she cared for. She attended Loretto High School in Sacramento, Calif., and graduated from Santa Clara University with a history degree. She met her husband, Dick, while at Santa Clara and they made quite a team for 40 years, active in politics and community service. She worked as an Intel project manager for 21 years. Karen was a member of the Washington County Democrats, serving as finance chair, and was an Oregon delegate to the 2012 Democratic Convention in Charlotte, N.C. She was also a longtime volunteer, often-time chair, of the West Beaverton Neighborhood Association Committee, Oregon League of Conservation Voters and City of Beaverton Sister Cities Advisory Board. Karen is survived by her husband, Washington County Commissioner Dick Schouten ’74; and daughters, Erika and Marijke Schouten.
