Kamila Lambert ’12 founded Edible Urban Farm, a business that empowers people to grow their own fresh, organic food. She sparked her interest in urban farming while working at Santa Clara University’s community vegetable garden, The Forge. She wondered what was stopping people from turning their thirsty, unproductive lawns into beautiful, productive vegetable gardens. Brendan Ruiz ’12 joined Edible Urban Farm after working as a youth garden educator at Middlebrook Center for Urban Sustainability. A lifelong interest in human ecology led Brendan to study anthropology at Santa Clara University and to grow his own food at his home in Santa Clara. When he’s not farming, he enjoys climbing rocks, making music, and being an organism.
