Julie Mar-Spinola J.D. ’87 has been appointed Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Finjan Holdings Inc., a cybersecurity technology licensing company, Ms. Mar-Spinola has served as the company’s VP, Legal Operations since February 3, 2014. In this expanded role, Ms. Mar-Spinola will have additional wide-ranging responsibilities, including building Finjan’s intellectual property assets, overseeing the Company’s Enforcement Program, including the licensing and litigation practice groups, as well as managing public policy, including Patent Reform.

Ms. Mar-Spinola is currently the chairman and co-founder of ChIPs, a nonprofit organization, founded in 2005, whose mission is to support, educate, and promote the advancement, development, and retention of women in IP and technology.
 
Ms. Mar-Spinola has been a court-appointed mediator for the US District Court for the Northern District of California, specializing in patent disputes, since 2011. Since November 2014, Ms. Mar-Spinola has served on the Santa Clara Law, High Tech Law Institute’s High Tech Advisory Board. More recently, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce appointed Ms. Mar-Spinola to serve on the Patent Public Advisory Committee (PPAC) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
