Born in Fort Sheridan, Illinois, Julian Daniel “Dan” Clarke III ’69, J.D. ’75 moved with his family to the Monterey Peninsula in 1964, where he graduated valedictorian from Junipero Serra High School. After earning a bachelor’s in business from Santa Clara, Dan spent four years in the Navy, where he served as an officer aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He returned to SCU for a law degree, and practiced for many years before opening a small business in Carmel Highlands. An avid sailor who loved the escape and adventure offered by the sea, Dan sailed with his family to and from Hawaii multiple times, and was a member of the Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club for 40 years. He died on June 22, 2020.
