Julian A. Climaco, S.J. M.Div. ’15 is one of 28 Jesuits ordained into priesthood this summer by the Society of Jesus, the largest order of priests and brothers in the Roman Catholic Church. Climaco, 40, was born in Cebu, Philippines, and lived there until he was 10, when his family immigrated to Los Angeles. While earning a Master of Divinity degree, he used his nursing skills to help at a free medical clinic (Street Level Health) for immigrants and the poor in Oakland. He says the connection to the Society of Jesus sort of came full circle when he joined since he had attended Sacred Heart School (a Jesuit primary and secondary school in Cebu, Philippines). It has since changed its name to Ateneo de Cebu.
