Josephine Hernandez M.A. ’72 was a firm believer in education and giving back to the community. She thrived at school and had a successful career as a Registered Nurse. Later, Jo worked for four years as a guidance counselor at San Jose High School before beginning a 20-year career at West Valley-Mission Community College District. She was instrumental in developing programs that support low-income and educationally disadvantaged students. Her family remembers fishing trips and Jo’s garden. Jo died March 12, 2022 and is survived by her family, including daughters Pamela M. Hernandez ’79 and Peggy M. Hernandez ’78
