After completing his undergraduate and law school, Joseph Panetta ’55 J.D. ’58 moved to Monterey to work in the District Attorney’s Office, followed by many years in private practice. His law career spanned over 60 years. His clients and the law community admired him. Joseph married his high school sweetheart, Anna, in 1955, and the couple shared 61 years of marriage until her passing in 2016. He died Dec. 19, 2022, and is survived by extended family, including nephew James Panetta J.D. ’96, Michael Panetta ’19, sons Joseph Panetta ’80 and John Panetta ’80, sister-in-law Sylvia Panetta ’13, granddaughter Brittnie Panetta J.D. ’20, and brother, former US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta ’60.
