Joseph P.D. Kern ’54, J.D. ’60 was a lawyer in Fillmore for over 60 years, serving 19 of those as city attorney. A longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, he was also an active Rotarian for over 50 years and was honored as a Paul Harris fellow. It was the privilege of his life, he said, to have been involved in supporting Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula. Joe passed away at his home from a prolonged illness on Dec. 11, 2018. He was 85 years old. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Lynda; his seven children, Hannah Tulberg, Peter Kern, Paul Kern, Mary Orellana, Elizabeth Kulwiec, Charles Kern, and Dominic Kern; 31 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
