Joseph Lodge ’76, J.D. ’80 was appointed to Arizona’s Coconino County Superior Court. “Mr. Lodge is known as one of the finest prosecutors in the State of Arizona,” said Governor Brewer. “His legal experience and outstanding personal and professional reputation make him well qualified to be a superior court judge.” Joe Lodge has worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office since 1989, where he currently serves as the Branch Chief in the Flagstaff office. Prior to serving as a U.S. Attorney, he worked as a Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 1989. He received his licensed to practice law in Arizona in 1992. As a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, Mr. Lodge prosecuted procurement fraud, white collar offenses and violent crimes occurring on northern Arizona Indian reservations. From 1995 to 1999 he served as the U.S. Attorney’s Office tribal liaison. As a JAG officer he helped soldiers and their families with domestic relations issues, contracts, wills and other civil matters. He also advised commanders on the applicable provisions of the Geneva Convention, rules of engagement and the law of appropriate targets. Mr. Lodge is reflective of Governor Brewer’s continuing effort to identify and appoint judges who share her philosophy that judges should strictly interpret and apply the laws as written by the Arizona Legislature. “It is an honor to appoint Joe Lodge to the Coconino County Superior Court,” said Governor Brewer. “He is an outstanding attorney who will serve the citizens of Coconino County well as their newest judge.”
