Family man Joseph A. “Rick” Rechenmacher ’49 was forever proud of his 150-yard golf hole-in-one, accomplished after having cataract surgery. A registered civil engineer in Santa Clara for over 60 years, Rick was always sharply dressed, loved vanilla ice cream, gin & tonics, and crossword puzzles. During his time with the Naval Air Corps, he flew a Navy SNJ-Aircraft solo during his training. On the GI bill, he started college at Santa Clara University, where he met his future wife at a St. Patrick’s dance and where they fell in love. He died Sunday, June 20, 2021.
