1951

San Jose native John Walter Wilhelmy ’50 was known for his dry sense of humor, twinkling eyes, and love of dancing. A gracious gentleman, he attended many dances including in Concord, Pleasant Hill and Lafayette tea dances, and dances at Rossmoor and the Diablo Dance Club. He also loved traveling with his wife, Isabel, with whom he raised five children. He cruised independently after her death until he was 95, routinely taking the Princess Cruise departing Pier 27 San Francisco to Mexico. An electrical engineer with PG&E for more than 35 years, he greatly enjoyed reminiscing with the School of Engineering Class of ’50. John died on September 8, 2021.
