John Paul “Johnny” Johns MBA ’90 was born on July 21, 1959, to David Melville Johns and Helen Josephine Johns in Redwood City. John was a proud former Marine (1978–82) who served onboard the USS Thomaston and was awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal for his role in the rescue of 77 Vietnamese refugees in the South China Sea in April 1981. He was a graduate of UC Berkeley, received his MBA from SCU, and was a certified public accountant. John was honored by the city of Atherton with admission into the Order of Merit in 2004. In 2010, Atherton honored him again with a special commendation to acknowledge his extraordinary contribution to the city as its chief financial officer. John passed away at his home in Davis, California, on June 2, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Sally Ann, his son, Stephen and his daughter, CeCe, his big sister, Cyndi Crechriou, his twin brother, Joseph F. Johns, his younger brother, Richard M. Johns, and his older brothers, T. Christopher Johns and James S. Johns. His mother and father, Helen J. Johns and David M. Johns, his oldest brother, D. Michael Johns, his sister, Mary Jo Johns, and his brothers, Terrance G. Johns and Ronald R. Johns Sr. preceded him in death.
