After serving as a intern during law school, John Kennedy J.D. ’94 has continued to work in the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office for the past 20 years. The office provides legal services to all City departments and agencies as well as elected and appointed officials, and his practice reflects the public policy and political issues facing the City including public transportation, the growth of technology apps, and same-sex marriage/Proposition 8 litigation. John has served on several LGBT non-profit Boards of Directors including the San Francisco LGBT Community Center, LYRIC, and Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom. Since he will be marrying his long time partner – Scott Shafer – Labor Day weekend, John regrets that he’ll be missing the reunion due to their planned honeymoon in Portugal and Spain but sends his regards to his fellow classmates. His interests include travel, water polo, and food.
