John H. “Jack” Bartlett ’51 was born on July 14, 1928, in Endicott, a son of the late Olfred and Grace Stoddard Bartlett. Jack was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Army. He was an employee of IBM Owego for 30 years and was and avid baseball fan—the Detroit Tigers were his favorite team. It was Jack’s request that his friends remember his smile and the big hug he gave them the last time he saw them. Jack passed away very peacefully in Florida on Dec. 18, 2009. He was 81 years old. Jack is survived by his childhood sweetheart, best friend, and wife of 61 years, Blanche Vrooman Bartlett; his children Larry Bartlett and Linda (John) Brainard; cherished grandchildren Jennifer, Nicole, Heather and Tom, and Brian; great-grandchildren Adrianna, Ashley, Anthony, and Elaina; nieces and nephews; brother Stuart Bartlett ’50, sister-in-law Bertha Hover; brother-in-law Ellsworth Vrooman; and special friend Alex (more like a brother) in Florida.
