In 1946, when his father died suddenly, John Giacomazzi ’52 quit the football team, took over Greenawalt Ranch, and worked tirelessly for the rest of his life to sustain it. When he graduated from high school, John drove his model-T Ford to San Jose State. After two years there, John transferred to Santa Clara University. He worked at FMC Corporation for 35 years, even as he continued to work the ranch with his sons, John Giacomazzi Jr. ’78 and Richard, and his daughter Gail Giacomazzi ’77. John died on April 22, 2021 and is survived by his wife, Elsie, his children, as well as daughter-in-law Silvia Martins ’78, and four grandchildren.
