John Cattalini ’64 was born nine minutes before his twin brother, Jim, and grew up with two older sisters in San Francisco. John majored in accounting at Santa Clara, went on to earn his CPA, then went back to school in retirement to earn a degree in viniculture. His love of wine led John to purchase land and develop his own vineyard in the Russian River Valley, where he produced Pinot Noir grapes bottled by Patz & Hall and others. As a dinner host, John loved to unveil multicourse meals with exceptional ingredients. John died May 2, 2024.
