Carol Brewer (Leclair) BSME ’83 and John Brewer BSEE ’83 are becoming empty nesters in the fall as their third child, Elizabeth, heads off to undergraduate studies at Loyola Marymount in September after graduating from Jesuit High in Portland OR as a member of the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society. Their oldest, Bridget, graduated Bates College in June with BAs in English (Creative Writing) and Studio Art. She spends the next year in Austin TX with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps assisting newly immigrated Hispanic families with acclimation to life in the US before the published and national award-winning author decides on a graduate program in which she can further her passion for writing. Their son John begins his third year studying chemistry at University of Redlands in September, when he also begins duties as co-captain of UoR’s nationally-ranked tennis team. Carol and John have swapped career roles, with Carol teaching Weight Watchers’ in-company classes in the Silicon Forest while John tries to figure out what to do with himself after the sale of SiGe Semiconductor in June. Carol continues to play tennis in USTA and Portland City leagues while maintaining her running career from Bronco days. She’s using local half-rathons to train for her first Portland Marathon in October in celebration of her 50th birthday.
