John Bowling ’61 and his wife, Jean, were founding members of the Paradise Youth Soccer League. John was also instrumental in bringing high school soccer to Butte County, Calif. After retiring from work as executive director of the housing authorities in Pleasanton, Calif., Vancouver, Wash., and Butte County, and he moved to the family farm. There they grew Zinfandel grapes, walnuts, and prunes. John was also a past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, a lector at mass, and volunteered with St. Vincent De Paul and the Interfaith Food Bank. John died Oct. 5, 2023 and is survived by family, including sister Carol Jordan ’77.
