Joe Tone ’01 recently joined The Washington Post as the sports investigations and enterprise editor. He was previously the deputy Washington bureau chief at Vice News. His 2017 book Bones: Brothers, Horses, Cartels and the Borderland Dream, a vivid account of an FBI investigation into money laundering by Mexican drug cartels in the horse racing industry, was a finalist for the PEN/ESPN literary sports writing award. His work has also appeared in the Washingtonian, Deadspin, and Amazon Original Stories. Tone lives in Maryland with his wife, Melissa, and his sons, Jonah and Elliot.
