1997

JoAnne Louise Craig-Arnold M.A. ’97 died June 4, 2024. Her work in Santa Clara’s Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries greatly influenced her music ministry throughout her life. Her husband, Jim Arnold J.D. ’66, was a fellow alumnus, and they celebrated their marriage engagement at Mission Santa Clara in 1967. The ceremony was officiated by their dear friend and SCU faculty member, Fr. Thomas Shanks. JoAnne was involved in music ministry for the Diocese of San Jose for over 60 years, playing for churches all around the Bay Area. She retired from the Diocese in 2019 after playing the piano and organ, cantering, and directing choirs for two decades at St. Athanasius in Mountain View, her final gig. JoAnne was also a fine artist. She painted bible-based murals and was the artist for the long-running and forward-thinking Catholic Women’s Network newspaper in the 1990s. The digital collection can be found at Santa Clara University’’ Archives and Special Collections.
